About Us

Hello,
Safe Haven Parrot Sanctuary, Inc. is a small grassroots organization, made up of a hand full of dedicated bird people. We have been accepting unwanted parrots since 2001.

I could have chosen to go many different routes when it comes to parrots. I could have been a breeder. While all those babies seemed very appling and money looked good. I thought about all of those homeless and unloved parrots. I could have adopted them all out. No, I would have worried about them. So after thinking a very long time about what I wanted to do for the parrots, I made the choice to become a sanctuary.

I love all animals, always have and always will. There are several reasons parrots have caught my attention, their beauty, intelligence, and the unique personality of a parrot. But I kept coming back to the fact that they are the 3rd most popular pet, and the most overlooked when it comes to where to place them when they are no longer wanted. Most Humane Societies are not equiped to handle parrots, their main focus is dogs and cats. People must educate themselves, before buying a parrot, or any animal for that matter, in order to prevent un-wanted pets. But until that happens, we must have rescues, and sanctuaries, like Safe Haven Parrot Sanctuary.

Hi,
We are just bystanders who love parrots with a passion. We can see that same passion in these two people. We have known them for but a short while and in that time we have become good friends. They have taken their passion and made it their life. Without people like these two this world would be a very sorry place to live.

Thank you Vicky and Paul for all you have done and are going to do.
